In the beginning...

"One day, Petroc woke up. He had had a wonderful sleep, and remembered his dream quite clearly. He wanted to be in a blues band. He asked all his friends, and they all said yes. They had band meetings, organised the songs they were going to play, and even had a concert lined up."
The next attempt - 2 years later
(Petroc, Carl, Stu, Harry, Gareth)"One day, Petroc woke up. He had had a wonderful sleep, and remembered his dream quite clearly. He wanted to be in a blues band. He asked all his friends, and they all said yes. He borrowed a room large enough to house a group, and stated the time and date of the practice, and on a saturday, everyone turned up and we had a practice......."
Another two years later...
(Petroc, Carl, Stu, Jo, Nick, Graham, Matt, Stuart, Sue, Donald, Donc, Polly, Kath, some drummers)"One day, Petroc woke up. He had had a wonderful sleep, and remembered his dream from 4 years ago quite clearly. He had tried it before, several times in fact, so he thought he would try it again. He called all his friends up and asked them to join him in the band, and, again, they all said yes. But this time, something was different......"
"The band had a meeting. They sorted out what we wanted to play. Petroc recorded them onto tape, he had some music, and, joy of joys, the McCrum had been born. The band had a place to meet, play, and generally rehearse."
We swop drummers and singers.
(Petroc, Carl, Stu, Jo, Nick, Graham, Matt, Stuart, Kath, Dave)"Then a remarkable thing happened. They had a rehearsal, then another rehearsal, then another, and songs seemed to sound good. They even sounded good in the Pavillion. Then they got a gig. Then they got a name. Then they changed the name. Then they sorted out the set. Then Stu nearly lost a finger, but all was OK and the gig was still on. Then they did the gig and people loved it."
"Then they realised just how much fun playing for other people is, and they wanted to do it again and again and again........ so they rehearsed some more. They got another gig, they were invited to record a CD, they played another gig and people loved it again."
"And the rest is history..."
