Meeting Mr. Sanborn
by Yukari Kawamura

I cannot help telling my wonderful souvenier. Because musican's life is in the different dimention, we can never know. However there is one plstform which can help us to cummunicate with them. "CONCERT"

On May 28, at BLUE NOTE TOKYO I was waiting for Mr Sanborn in front of the back stage. It was almost 11:15. But I didn't want to miss this opportunity in order to get his autograph . Suddenly he came out and got in the car moving slowly. He was very polite and kind. Opening the car window, he gave me his autograph. The security was complaining to me for my failure of dropping the pencil. I thought Mr Sanborn felt ill of me, but the car remained stopped. I was lucky . The next day, although the seats were all reserved, I saw his last show standing. The last playing was the beautiful masterpiece "Dream",I didn't know this music was played at the end of the show so often. I was deeply impressed because the last summer, I was practicing this song playing synthesizer. This is the only music of Mr. Sanborn which I can play . Of course I couldn't copy the band score so I played the melody using the data music soft "SINGER SONG WRITER"
After the Show, again, I was lucky. I was standing at the corner side. This side was on the the way to his back stage. I could give my present to him.
First, I could't hit upon what my present was going to be. Then suddenly, I remembered that my friend in peru had sent me a very curious instrument called "kena" recently. This instrument is a little hard to play for common people. but I thought Mr.Sanborn's breathing capacity of the lungs would be easier to do it.

If I am born again, I will try to become a musican.

I am looking forward to his "MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL" on TV. It will be broadcasted on around September or October.

As for myself, I will play in front of the audience in the the AMATEUR'S MUSIC SHOW on July 4, 1999. My instrument is XP80 Roland synthesizer.
