LOUIS KOO (POPULAR LOUIS)
(CAPITAL ARTISTS) (AUG00)
|
After the successful launch of
his debut release "Boyfriend"
earlier this year, actor Louis Koo (or Gu Tian Le) has come out
with his aptly-titled second offering. Containing
a total of nine brand new songs plus three additional remix
tracks, the album contains many dance tracks interspersed with
ballads. The first single "What's In Trend" is a
catchy dance number which sounds like something that Aaron Kwok
would do. Other recommended numbers by the record company
include the ballad "Cup Noodles" and the duet
"Surprise At First Sight" sung with uprising singer
Rain Lee (or Li Cai Hua). A Mandarin cover "Friends Say" of his
previous hit "Boyfriend" is also included. The
first-batch of the limited edition CD comes in a tin package
which is bundled with a bonus VCD containing the printer advert
he shot for Epson plus the music video of "Surprise At
First Sight" which is also the main theme-song for the
Epson advertisement.

STEPHANIE CHE (LOVE &
HATE) (UNIVERSAL MUSIC) (AUG00)
|
Stephanie Che (or Che Wan Wan)
has release her brand new album under a new label Universal
Music (side-note : poor Stephanie was recently embroiled in a
media blitz over her parentage background involving a veteran
TVB actor). Universal Music reportedly has plans to groom
her to take-over the position vacated by Amanda Lee (or Li Hui
Min) who has just left the company. The
album is produced by a host of musicians like Anthony Wong, Chen
Hui Yang, Chen Guang Rong, Fang Shu Liang and Huang Shang Wei. The
first single "Passion For The Galaxy" is a techno
track co-produced by Anthony Wong. The second single
"Fade Away" is a ballad duet sung with Andy Hui.
Stephanie also sang a Mandarin ballad track here titled
"Reject You, Reject Love".

ANTHONY WONG (BROAD DAYLIGHT)
(UNIVERSAL MUSIC) (AUG00)
|
Anthony Wong (or Huang Yao
Ming) has released his eagerly-anticipated brand new release
"Broad Daylight". Overseeing
the whole production of the album (coupled with the assistance
from his group of pals under the production label People
Mountain People Sea), Anthony has ensured that a nice balance is
struck between the inclusion of both mainstream and alternate
pop music. A
competent song-writing cast has been roped in, such as Zhang Ya
Dong, Sandee Chan (who wrote the only Mandarin track here,
"Deep Blue"), Lin Xi and Huang Wei Wen.

GIGI LEUNG (KISS) (EEI)
(AUG00)
|
Gigi Leung (or Liang Yong Qi)
has released a new song + collection CD. Containing
a total of eighteen tracks (including two interlude tracks), the
compilation contains three brand new recordings : "Kiss
Me" is a mid-tempo number with a slight trace of jazz
(composed and produced by Huang Dan Yi), "Till Death"
is a somewhat dated-sounding supporting theme song of Gigi's movie
"Love & Sincerity" (or Ai Yu Cheng) composed by Mark
Lui and written by Lin Xi, and "No Wind Tonight" is a
radio-friendly ballad which is another work of Huang Dan Yi. As
for the remaining thirteen collection tracks, they include some
of her well-known hits like "Love Oneself" (or Ai Zi
Ji), "I Like" (or Wo Zhong Yi) and "Good
Time" (or Hao Shi Chen). The
CD comes with a bonus VCD containing two of her new music videos
"Kiss Me" & "Till Death" and two of her
past MTVs "I Like" and "A Particular
Summer".
