What this Website Is
The purpose of this Website is to collect, preserve and distribute as much historical and vital information relating to our ancestors and the nature of their lives as possible, to the extent that our limited knowledge and opportunity allow.
To broaden the limits of our knowledge and stretch the scope of our understanding about our ancestors and how our family, civic, regional, national and world cultures have come to be what they are today is our constant goal.
We do this, not just for ourselves, but also for the benefit of our descendants. It is our hope that they, in turn, will be inspired to do the same for their descendants, because we believe that a better understanding of the origins and development of the cultures in which they find themselves can only enrich the lives of generations to come, as it has so enriched our lives. Our immediate goal is to provide an entertaining and informative way to publish the names and relationships of thousands of people who have come into our family by birth and by marriage, and to preserve the legacy of each human life as it has come down to us through personal, historical and cultural knowledge. We intend to do this by several means. First, by presenting our genealogy data in various ways on our Website, and by illustrating the many conditions and events which impacted our ancestors lives. We approach the task by means of original essays, informative articles and lighthearted integration of ancient and medieval cultural concepts into the overall design of our site. By this we hope to obtain, in some small way, a better understanding of the context in which our ancestors led their various lives. Secondly, the greater part of our work has already been done by countless historians and others, both professional and amateur enthusiasts, who have dedicated their lives to the study of cultures, languages, migrations, religious practices and much more. We, in this age of communication, are infinitely blessed to have access to a huge repository of this work on the Internet. Therefore, we intend to provide as many links to this body of information as it is possible for us to discover. Finally, because this task is enormous, we also strive to enlist the cooperation of those who share our interests by promoting genealogy research within our extended family and throughout the Internet community. Contribute a related family file in GEDCOM format. * Write a guest article on a relevant topic covered in our pages.
