- We found quite a number of flies that we cannot identify, not even to
family level. Please advise if
you recognize any of them.
-
- Blue Fly

- Body length 5mm

- We usually found them rest on leaves in dense forest.
-
-
- Bronze Long Legged Fly

- Body length 6mm
- Pictures was taken in White Hill during early summer.
-
-
- Unknown Fly 4

- Body length 6mm
- Picture was taken on from our back yard on a plum tree during early spring.
-
-
- Unknown Fly 6

- Body length 8mm
- Picture was taken at Macgregor bushland during mid summer. This fly looks
like a Treehopper.
It is hard to understand what is the advantage of mimicking
a Treehopper.
-
-
- Unknown Fly 7

- ? sp., body length 15mm
- Pictures taken near Alexandra Hill during early winter. This insect looks
like a Crane Fly but it has patterned wings and
long antenna.
-
-
- Unknown Fly 8

- ? sp., body length 10mm
- We think this is a fly, or it could be a Treehopper.
-
-
- Unknown Fly 9

- ? sp., body length 8mm
- Picture taken in Toohey Forest near Mt Gravatt during late summer. This fly
has the yellow back banded abdomen like a Hoverfly. However, its wings vein
suggests it could be a Flash Fly.
Please advise if
you recognize any of them. Thank you.
