Acalolepta vastator, tribe Monochamini, body length 35mm 
The first picture was taken near our windows on 20 OCT 00. It was attracted to our window by the window light.
Then we sometimes find them when bush walking. They are quite common in Brisbane. Their antenna are 1.5 time of its body length. The beetle is grayish brown in colour. There this the sharp points on its shoulder part of its forewings. There are another two sharp points on it thorax. More information please click here.

We found this beetle on the wall outside our house early summer.

She-Oak Longicorn

? sp., body length 30mm 
We saw this longicorn once on a large She-Oak tree in Karawatha Forest during early summer. We cannot ID this beetle. More pictures of this beetle can be found in this page.
 
 
Acacia Longicorn Beetle

Penthea sp., tribe Niphonini, body length 30mm
In mid summer, on those young Acacia trees in Mt Cotton, we found a few of those Longicorn Beetles. Some of them are actively moving around. When disturbed, some dropped onto the ground and played dead, some slowly flied away. More information and pictures please visit this page.
 
 
Dark Brown Longicorn Beetle

Platyomopsis nigrovirens , tribe Niphonini, body length 20mm
This black Longicorn  Beetle was found near Wishart Outlook feeding on Red Bottle Bush. Quite a number of them found on the same tree. They were slow in motion and concentrating on feeding. They are dark brown in colour with yellowish-white dots on their thorax and both sides of their forewings. Please also visit this page for more information on this beetle.
 
 
Longicorn Beetle

Zygocera plumifera, tribe Zygocerini, body length 20mm
This Longicorn  Beetle was  found near Wishart Outlook. It had two cones at the base of each forewing, or elytra. It was dark brown in colour with yellowish-white dots on their thorax and both side of their forewings. When it walked on the tree trunk with lichen, it was well camouflaged.
 
 
Acacia Longicorn Beetle II

? Ancita fasciculata, tribe Ancitini, body length 10mm
This is a small Longicorn Beetle. It is black in colour with white doted-lines pattern. The femur of all its legs are covered with dense white hairs. There are hairs on its long antenna too. We found a number of them on a Acacia tree near Bulimba Creek in Wishart during early summer.

Sybra sp., tribe Ptericoptini, body length 15mm
Pictures taken early summer in Yugarapul Park, Brisbane.
We just received a email from Boris Büche advised that this is a Sybra sp. beetle.
