Phonics Rules

When I was a little girl, I remember watching The Electric Company, a show which taught reading through phonics coupled with fun and "groovy" songs. My mom read to me constantly as a child, so these two influences helped me to become a fluent reader. When I began teaching, I was unaware of the actual rules of phonics, for example when you use a c ond when you use a k, and that you code a short vowel with a breve. If you are like me the following tips and phonics rules may help you when working with your child. If you ever have any questions
about any rules or terminology you hear your child using, please let me know, because I was unaware of these actual rules until I began teaching them to my Kindergarteners.
