Bond Story of Caissene
Caissene barely had time to touch Caiseal's arm before the eggs started hatching. She couldn't believe how quickly the time had passed, and here they were about to bond!
Moya cheeped happily on her shoulder, and Caissene smiled, remembering all of the fun they'd had even without bonding. Caissene could definetly say she'd never felt so very.....free.
When a small red dragon bonded the girl standing only a few feet from Caissene, she was brought sharply back to reality. A brown quickly followed, and a blue let out a bellow, making Caissene jump and step back, along with most of the people around her; except Caiseal.
Reaching out for him instinctively, Caissene was amazed to see him step forward to bond the blue, grinning back at her in reassurance. As Caiseal walked off the sands, Caissene felt a desperation settle over her. Caiseal now had a different, stronger bond than the one the two of them shared, and what happened if she didn't bond? What would she have to show for the past year of her life?
A green bonded next, to a girl standing a rather long ways away from Caissene, and she had a better view of the brown-red. A dark green slipped to the back of the bonders, making more than a couple edgy, and Caissene felt a trill on her heart when Shaeya bonded the green-black. Shaeya was from Alskyr, as was Caissene, and had grown up not far from Caissene's. The two had hit it off rather well, and Caissene was happy to see her bond. She just hoped she would as well.
Another, lighter green bonded next, followed closely by a teal-black speckled. Caissene thought the teal-black was beautiful and willed the creature to her, but it passed her by and bonded some sort of fox girl. Moya chirped comfortingly on her shoulder and Caissene smiled and rubbed the alis gryph's beak as she crooned.
A brown, a black-brown, a green, and a violet two-tone hatched with little notice from Caissene. She was almost getting bored, and took some of the pop corn the man was yelling about. It was warm in her mouth and she gave a piece to Moya, and turned back to watching the hatching.
A blue and red hatched and bonded, followed by contrasting light and dark browns. The dark brown-black standing beside his chosen was a contrast as well, with the boy's white hair, and Caissene couldn't help but smile at him when he turned joyful eyes towards her.
A boy pushed her out of the way and she sighed and watched a yellow-brown bond, followed by granite and black hatchlings.
Looking around, Caissene was amazed at how quickly the bonders were dwindling, and how many more were left to still bond. Her attention was drawn to a blue-green, but the hatchlings attention wasn't drawn to her and she settled into humming a tune as she shuffled about the sand. It was warm on her feet, and she wasn't impressed at having to stand and watch all these people bond before her.
A very deep gold, almost bronze, hatched next, and she looked a lot like a sea dragon. More like a sea dragon than even a dragon, if Caissene was right. It was no matter, as she bonded anyway and moved off the dunes, and a white-green followed, bonding the complaining girl not far from Caissene. Once she was gone, Caissene moved closer to the front and got a better view of the eggs and the many pieces of shell laying on the sand. She wouldn't be surprised if someone hurt themselves on those eggs....
A purple and green quickly bonded, and Caissene was pushed again out of the way as a boy and a dragon raced by them. She smiled and shook her head, and then laughed when she heard people placing bets on who would win. She personally thought the boy would for now, but given time, the large brown would easily outdistance him.
A very pale gold and an aqua blue hatched next, and Caissene felt tiredness settling into her bones. Her eyes were drooping wearily and she sighed slowly, stepping aside as a violet bonded and the pair left the sands.
A blue and green approached a single bonder, and Caissene strained to see who it was. She snorted when she saw the satyr-boy. He had approached her more than once, and although she had been hard-pressed to say no to him, she had and she couldn't be happier with her choice.
A green and bronze hatched without waiting for the show to end, and Caissene was jostled as the bonders ran forwards to their bonds. A green-blue hatched quickly after, and Caissene found herself even more towards the front of the bonders, with a front row seat as to what was happening. Which was why she saw so well as the hatchlings as a million eggs exploded at once.
There was a green-gold, a bright pink, a vibrant green, two squabbling greens, a brown-blue and a red hatched and bonded, and a lull started. Rakers dashed out to clear some of the shells, and just as they were finishing more eggs started hatching. A purple and green were first, followed closely by a female brown, a dark green, and a pink-gold.
Caissene looked around rather frantically, realizing that the bonding was almost done. There were only a few of the original seventy-seven left, and she was feeling rather.....exposed.
Two dark blues hatched and bonded, and Caissene felt her eyes drawn to the remaining hatchling, a greeny-teal-black thing. It was then Caissene felt the tingling down her spine.
Out from your parents oppressive thumbs and into mine! Bellowed the greeny-teal and black scaled dragoness. She tossed her head and lifted her long tail to walk across the sands. Then, the long daughter of Neres Storm dropped face first into a depression where an egg had been before. She tumbled into it, rolled out, completely covered in fine white sand. Caissene stiffled a giggle.
I’m okay. I’m fine. I meant to do that. I swear. Where was I? Oh yes, you hardly want anyone to make decisions for you Caissene, but you certainly made the right one coming to me!
“What an arrogant little dragon,” Caissene muttered, rolling her eyes as she dropped down and wrapped her arms around her bond.
I am not little! cried the green, and she was right – though she was still young, obviously she would be large when she grew up. A trait from her mother’s side, apparently, like her broad arrogance.
“Look, TideFroth,” Caissene said, “you’ll need to learn some humility in addition to those walking lessons you so deserve...” Moya, still sitting happily on her shoulder, tittered a laugh, and then flew quickly away as the long neck and tail of the dragoness both swept around trying to knock it loose. Caissene couldn't help but smile as she walked off the dunes with her bond. Things were suddenly looking even better.
