Kevin Doubleday had a gear strip in qualifying before he could record a representative lap - but in the H final he showed he had the speed and reliability to set a pretty quick time. Indeed Dubbs' score wasn't beaten till the C final when a fine demonstration from the younger generation saw Graeme Stephenson win from Will Stemman. Charlie Gooding won the B just 0.06 laps ahead of Graeme's C final time, wile Paul Shepherd displaced Will to be third going into the A final.
