2004 Production Challenge
| A great entry - 14 teams each with 4 drivers - raced at the 2004 National Club Team Championship. The event attracted entries from Scotland (Ecurie Barnton - Edinburgh) to the South Coast (Roedale - Brighton). Run at Pinewood Raceway, the event was run in the reverse direction (Doowenip) so as to minimize any home track advantage. The National Team Championship was run on Sunday 26 September following Saturday's Production Challenge. Many thanks to all at Pinewood Raceway for hosting the event, the excellent race control and catering were much appreciated. Congratulations to North London - National Champions for the 24th (yes TWENTY FOURTH) time! |

| Racing action - on the left Brian Saunders (yellow) does a lightning tyre change while Graeme Stephenson, Phil Conn, Stan Alton, Keith Sorrel and Greg Harwood pile on the laps. On the right its Chas Keeling (in a guest appearance for Riverside), Ross Grogan, Rob Budge, Paul Harwood, Franz Barillaro and Charles Hunt |

| The Pinewood members took turns on race control, and all did an excellent job. Here's Dave Mayo in action. (Above right) a shady spot just outside the club room. With teams having a half hour sit outs between runs, there was plenty of time to relax. |

| Left - A
segmented race for 14 teams means 6 on the track and 8 in the parc ferme.
Here's Oaklands, Leicester, Ipswich, Pinewood, North London and
Luton on the start line with the Doowenip, Roedale, Wellingborough,
Riverside, Ecurie Barnton, Church Farm, Crawley, and Luton 2 cars ready
for their next run.
Above right - Pinewood has generous pit space - a real asset with this size of entry. The competitors also enjoyed a at the slot racing supplier's latest products. However, I guess a few would have benefited if their team cars spent a bit less race time in the pits! This was the first year where teams have not been allowed a spare car, and most teams suffered some mechanical delays (particularly Oaklands). The winning North London car suffered an armature problem which meant it was clearly not the quickest car in the second half of the race (particularly not on the main straight). The North London's drivers made the most of what power the car did have, avoided the chassis breakages that delayed other teams. |

| North London's winning team - Ian Fisher, Mark, Greg and Paul Harwood. Mark started by setting what stood as the fastest segment of the day (329 on yellow). Crawley briefly led around quarter distance, but from then on North London led all the way. Left - the winning car - does it look familiar? Ian's Betta chassis also won in 2002 and 2003. They were the only team to use a Betta Dome body. |
