SIDE MAGNET OPEN-FRAME MOTORS


Based on an older design often used in fans and clocks, these motors were common in early cab diesels and less expensive imports with shaft vertical. They ranged up to very large O scale sizes. The pole pieces are usually laminated to reduce losses and heat due to eddy currents.
