When some jobs outgrew the Unimat, requiring repositioning of work or extensive machining time, the C-5 lathe and mill were added. Essentially of the same principle design, the only mental adjustments were getting accustomed to the increased power, bulk, left hand feed wheel and inch calibration. Although the mill could be used on the lathe bed, the larger mill base, with a 4" x 15 1/2" table, was capable of handling much larger work. The only major problem was obtaining T-nuts and T-screws, since Unimat's were too small and standard 3/16" sets too large. Fabrication was required. ![]() Note: Adjust brightness and contrast for optimumviewing. OVERALL VIEW OF THE C-5 MILL One additional accessory; the fine vertical, allen wrench driven, screw feed; permits very accurate, milling depth adjustment. Oddly this is metric calibrated. The 1/4" Jacobs chuck supplied is too small, however with a collet, standard 3/8" straight shank mills can be accommodated. BACK TO CHISELS BACK TO METHODS DRILLING C-5 MILL BACK TO TOOLS INDEX |
