WARNING: This tool should
only be used with a drill press or vertical mill with the work piece
securely clamped. Especially with the unbalanced single bit, the side
thrust is uncontrollable , possibly leading to damage and serious
injury.
Standard lathe bit type fly cutter for plane surfacing with mill.
Standard 1/4" lathe bit & easy to grind carbide system bit.
By selecting bit for vertical down feed, cast cylinder saddles can be enlarged or lowered to accommodate larger smoke box diameters.
Trial and error setup is tedious, but results are excellent. This method was used to lower boiler on an MDC PRR E-6s atlantic, when changing 75" drivers to correct 80".
