Brad Pitt actually contacted Guy Richie and asked to be in it because he loved Lock Stock so much, his involvement in Snatch is really the only reason I wanted to see it because I wasn't too bothered about seeing Lock Stock take 2 which was my first impression of Snatch after seeing the trailer. For the most part it is Lock Stock take 2 and if you were a fan of Lock Stock this is obviously good news but the difference with Snatch is that Guy Richie has tried to give the film darker edge and make it less comedic than Lock Stock. He acheived his first aim but Snatch still retains the comedy element of Lock Stock so really you get the best of both worlds in a way which is another plus point. The plot of Snatch is that several groups of people are looking for a diamond that has ended up in London on its way from Antwerp to New York and like in Lock Stock their paths seem cross for one reason or another throughout the film and this makes for a very enjoyable and energetic movie. I thought the title sequence was great when all the characters were introduced to us and the rest of the movie was shot in the same arty, experimental way as Lock Stock which pissed me off sometimes but was also pretty cool at the same time. It will be very interesting to see Mr Richie's next effort to see if he can justify the new brilliant, superstar director tag that seems to have been wrongly labeled on him (in England anyway). He's only made two films, alright they were both good but they aren't particualrly groundbreaking or anything are they. The cast were all great - in particualr Pitt was very funny as an Irish Gypo, bareknuckled fighter who's accent couldn't be understood at all most of the time and Vinnie Jones proved that he is twice as good at acting than he ever was at football (actually let's not insult his acting ability - three times as good). So it's a good film. Better than Lock Stock because there's more to it and I definitely recommend it.
