Filmmaker Marty DiBergi goes on the road with Rock group Spinal Tap as they attempt to conquer America again pomoting their new album Smell The Glove, in an attempt to capture the men behind the music. This leads to a film that is a perfect satire of the state of music and especially the people that made it at that time and it was so spot-on about what was going on that time that some people were apparently very upset by it.
Don't expect the film to be hilariously funny all the way through because it isn't (although it definitely does have it's moments) however, despite not being hilariously funny all the way through the very fact that every minute of the film is a parody it means that it works as a film and the humour is still ever present throughout. There are loads of lines in the movie that when you look back or see them again somewhere they definitely always make you smile. eg:

Nigel Tuffnel: It's like, how much more black could this be?... And the answer is none............None more black.

[Nigel is playing his own classical composition on the piano]
Marty DiBergi: It's very pretty.
Nigel Tuffnel: You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know, very much like - I'm influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really. It's sort of -
Marty DiBergi: What do you call this?
Nigel Tuffnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump."

[Reading a review of the Tap's album "Shark Sandwich"]
Marty DiBergi: Two words: Shit Sandwich.

Rob Reiner did an excellent job giving the movie the documentary style that was required and the acting is excellent, especially given the fact that much of it looks as though it was ad-libbed.

Notable apperances are made by Billy Crystal (Morty The Mime), Dana Carvey (Mime Waiter), Bruno Kirby (Limo Driver), Paul Shaffer - the music guy off Letterman (Artie Fufkin), Anjelica Huston (Polly Deutsch)

Another pointless fact: Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls) is the guy off the Simpson's that  does the voices for - Mr Burns, Ned Flanders, Smithers, Skinner, Otto, Reverend Lovejoy, Dr. Hibbert, Kent Brockman, Jasper, Lenny, Eddie, Ranier Wolfcastle, Scratchy, Kang)
