PRISTINA (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier was electrocuted in southeast Kosovo when the radio antenna on his armored patrol vehicle touched an overhead power line, a spokesman for the NATO-led peace force said Monday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A U.S. soldier, working as a NATO peacekeeper in Kosovo, was electrocuted when the radio antenna on his military vehicle came in contact with an overhead power line in the town of Babuski, the Pentagon announced Monday.

Pentagon officials said the soldier was trying to move the antenna to avoid contact with the power line when the accident occurred.

The soldier was taken to an Army field hospital in Urosevac, Kosovo, where he was pronounced dead at 9 p.m. Sunday. His name was not immediately released.

Three other U.S. soldiers have died in accidents in Kosovo since the beginning of the peacekeeping mission there. Two were killed when an armored personnel carrier overturned and one was the victim of an apparent accidental shooting.
