To My Muse

It is easy for me to write
My lines of poetry
By grasping tight the bounds of mind
And shaking spirit free.

Poetry is easy for me to write,
Just listen, and you'll learn.
The trick's not in the wrist or hand
But the phrases that you turn.

You must avoid phrases like,
"Oh, I so love you dear,"
And concentrate your heart instead
On those you seldom hear.

My muse came down in silv'ry coach
And she did speak to me
To write of love and happiness
And other such pleasantry.

So to my muse I dedicate
The stanzas I now write
And to my inspiration
Who keeps my lyrics bright.
