Each generation's stories reflect the times and life in the Florida Frontier.

Pineywood Rooters Great Grandad-Had 160 acres on what was known as the Kissimmee Island along the banks of the Kissimmee River. He raised 14 children in the Florida Wilderness living off the land.

Grandad-Cooked on the paddlewheel boat, "Lillie", that came down the Kissimmee River. He settled in the town of Tanti (Okeechobee) as fisherman on Lake Okeechobee. Now, it's been told, he was a friend to the Ashley Gang and supplied them with cooked meals and limeshine.

Daddy-Was born in the Ice House on Taylor Creek. His stories capture memories of the 1926 Hurricane, the massive floods and the straightening of Kissimmee River.

Me-Well, I remember the early days at the Cape..Fishing the Kissimmee/Okeechobee before it was straightened..and now am working to restore it back the way it was!
