This section will point you to various software mentioned in this guide and also to some nice HTML Editors to use instead of your text editor.

HTML Editors

The following will take you to pages where each may be downloaded.

 

  1. HotDog --Flexible and user-friendly HTML editor, widely acclaimed in the Net community. Supports Netscape extensions and HTML 3 elements.

  2. HoTMetaL --Unsupported free version of HoTMetaL PRO. Includes plenty of features -- document templates, forms support, rules checking, cleanup of existing documents with bad markup.

  3. HTML Assistant Pro --Newest version of first program first released in March 1994. Latest release includes point and click creation of forms and tables, spellchecker, and WYSIWYG tool for creating background patterns.
  4. Kenn Nesbitt's WebEdit HTML Editor --WebEdit 1.2 provides support for every feature of HTML, including HTML levels 1, 2 and the draft specification of HTML 3.0. Its many features include spelling checking with optional dictionaries for British, French, Spanish, German and Italian. WebEdit is distributed by KnowledgeWorks, Inc. as shareware and can be downloaded for a free 30 day evaluation

  2. A Quick Guide to HTML and CGI Scripts -- A quick guide to writing HTML and CGI scripts.

  3. Bare Bones Guide to HTML --The Guide lists virtually every official HTML 2.0 tag, plus the Netscape extensions and several HTML 3.0 tags, in a concise, organized format.
  4. WRITING HTML -- Detailed HTML tutorial. Includes both HTML 2.0 and HTML 3.0 deluxe features. Also coming soon are frames and JavaScript.

Graphic Software

  1. LView Pro --A widely known graphics viewer and editor for various MS-Windows platforms.

  2. Paint Shop Pro -- Apart from being an excellent graphics program, it has the unique ability to extract the graphics from your Netscape cache file (.moz files) in thumbnail fashion. Go to FILE, BROWSE and open the Netscape cache file.

FTP (Downloading software)

  1. CuteFtp.zip --A nice FTP program which will allow long file names. Easy to use MS-Windows software.

  2. Wsftp32a.zip -- Another FTP program which also allows long file names.
