The mind of Jeffrey Mattson

This was sent to me by Jeff Mattson and I thought it was worthy of being here but I could not think of a good thing to call it, so for now, I wish to invite you to read what he has to say:

I am not going to write everything that I think about here because that could easily take up a whole book. Also, it is hard to go into one aspect of it without going into everything, because there is one force that controls everything. That force I think is everything trying to do the best that it can. To me that seems like a scientifc force if you look at it the right way.

Consider this for a new dimension. Although most people can't see it, computers are not just a tool, they are a bridge to a new dimension. Right now they are very primitive, but the advent of computers may be more consequential to human history than the wheel. Man is technological, speaking of technology is speaking of man, because that is his niche in evolution, so man cannot stop becoming as technological as he can, because of this, I am convinced that the following is going to happen. Imagine a world where virtual reality is so good that you don't need eyepeices or gloves or anything, but say there are holograms, with nanoparticles in the air creating a pressure to create the feeling of touch. Also, every place in the world is recorded, ans communication lines are fast enough to transmit anything. With only a thought you could appear on the other side of the world, and technology is so advanced that you look exactly like you would in the flesh. Therefore, you'd never know whether or not your actually seeing and touching somebody in the flesh or just a virtual reality representatian. You can expand this basic idea into any direction you want, but the virtual reality world would be just as real as the real world is today. To me this is another dimension. It is space, but not space as we would percieve it now. It is a Mental World. No longer would there be a need for people to travel in person, but if all information was available, you could effectively go anywhere just through a communication signal.

I'm not a writer, and maybe people reading this can't picture it with the vision that I see it in, and can't either all of the time, only in moments of clarity, but it is a scary thought. And it might not be bad, maybe it is only the next step in evolution. If you think about it terms of calculus, (which is brilliant, I used to think of calculus as only math, but calculus comes from nature), it is possible at times to see the derivatives of something like this, and derivatives are also scary. Now for some really abstract speculation. Suppose artificial intelligence is perfected, and that invents all technology possible immediately, but that another discussion. People now live forever, so it is unnecassary to reproduce. Our bodies are useless, the are a nuisance. The next logical step would be to discard of them, the technology may be there to copy our brainwaves into a machine, then any reality possible could be created. Thus, in our quest for a more advanced life, we have come full circle back to almost no life. But that's in the terms we look at it now. When it happens it will seem as real as can be. Evolution goes beyond just living organisms, but everything evolves, including intelligence. Being intelligent, we will strive to understand the next dimension, and once we get there, we will try to understand the next dimension and go full circle again. Then there is the circle of circles, which is a dimension of dimensions, and so on.

This would explain a paradox that had always bothered me. I thought, if people could ever travel through time or come from other galaxies, how come we haven't seen it yet. Maybe they can't physically. Only a communication signal can travel through a wormhole or through time or vast expanses of space. To them it would be real, but to us, who haven't got the technology yet, we could see it happening even if they were here right now.

These type of arguments help me to understand dimensions, even if all that I have said above is just crazy. It makes me think that dimensions are all around us, and with that, life and intelligence that we do not even know about. Everything does the best it can, therefore, everything must have intelligence in forms that exist in other dimensions. The electricity in the wires could be the life from another dimension, and to it things are as live and real as can be, and we are hard to comprehend, or maybe we are as easy to comprehend and two-dimensions is to us. Also, if we could possibly transverse our bodies and there is life in everything, it leads me to believe that the only real thing is our spirits and souls, and thinking about this stuff does not drive me from religion, but draws me to it. And spirits and souls is another derivative of life to think about and create another angle of dimensions on.

All that I've said is probably crazy, and I know that it is, because it has no concrete base and keeps me from getting down to the real material things and keeps me from doing what I really want to do. You can't get too caught up in theory, but it sure is interesting.
