Paper Size

The above drawing discribes the "A" size papers that I use. One of the things I find interesting about "A" size paper is that when you cut it in half on the long edge the results produce two equal "A" proportioned sheets.
I begin with an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of standard paper any color and trim it to 11 X 7 13/16,this produces an "A" proportion sheet. By cutting each sheet in half on the long edge you produce the next "A" size. There is a internation standard notation used to identify "A" size papers. I am using a different notation to discribe the "A" size papers that I use. "A" is the parent dimensions, A/2, A/4, A/8, etc. are divisions of the original. I like to measure using Metric units because decimals are easier to divid than frations. The list below are the "A" size papers begining with an 279.4 mm X 197.6 mm (11 in. X 7 13/16 in.).
- "A" = 279.4 mm X 197.6 mm
- A/2 = 197.6 mm X 139.7 mm
- A/4 = 139.7 mm X 98.8 mm
- A/8 = 98.8 mm X 69.9 mm
NOTE! add International standard for "A" size paper
