"If there are no candidates that are 100%
Pro-Life, then I will cast a write-in vote
for Mickey Mouse."
Those who won't vote for a mixed-record candidate
are throwing away a chance to support life.
Purist, pro-life voters fail to take in all perspectives.
For example, there's the back-door perspective.
Even though a mixed-record candidate may be
directly pro-choice, he can still be indirectly pro-life.
A prime example was San Jose's race between Estruth and
Campbell.
Estruth is a radical pro-choice liberal.
Campbell is pro-choice, social liberal, too,
but he is also a fiscal conservative.
The reason a vote for Campbell was pro-life
was partly because Campbell was the lesser of two evils,
but it's mostly because Campbell was more likely to oppose pro-abortion measures
such as taxpayer-funded abortions, Goals 2000,
forced abortion training in med schools, and
financial support of forced abortions in China
through sponsorship of UN population control programs.
As a member of the Republican team,
he's also more likely to support bills
containing minor pro-life provisions.
Another perspective is the overview. One
candidate does not make or break a bill. It takes
a whole legislature. In the case of Estruth vs. Campbell,
what matters is what Congress' score would be with
each man seated, not what the scores are for the
individuals.
The distribution of people along the spectrum, with
feminazis like Hillary and Bella Abzug at the extreme left,
and their counterparts, the abortionist-killers,
at the extreme right, is a Bell curve.
The objective is to pull that curve to the right.
Throwing away your vote lets those on the left
move the curve in their direction.
If you've never studied statistics, look at it this way.
Politics is not decided by individual voters or even by
individual Representatives or Senators. Politics is
decided by trends. Your vote can strengthen
your side or weaken the other side. But please don't
weaken your own side by throwing your vote away!
One last perspective, from the base of the cliff. If we
allow the Estruths to defeat the Campbells, it's going
to be more difficult for the Dornans and the Gramms
to overcome the Gepharts and the Feinsteins.
Please, don't throw away a chance to indirectly
support the right to life, to influence the whole, and
to weaken the opposition.
"No class or group or party in Germany
could escape its share of responsibility
for the abandonment of the democratic Republic
and the advent of Adolf Hitler.
The cardinal error of the Germans who opposed
Nazism was their failure to unite against it.
....the 63% of the German people who expressed
their opposition to Hitler were much too divided
and shortsighted to combine against a common danger
which they must have known would overwhelm them
unless they united, HOWEVER TEMPORARY,
to stamp it out."
