"VIETNAM,          VIETNAM. WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE."
April 29, 2000 marks the 35th Anniversary of the Coast Guard's entrance                into combat operations in the Vietnam War. With a quick "OK"                President Lyndon Baines Johnson gave his assent to the Coast Guard                to join the war. It would be a learning experience soon lost.

Presently only one of the seven Coast Guardsmen killed in Vietnam has            been honored and virtually none of the living Coast Guard heros of this            war are known.
Perhaps over the next five years we may place all Coast Guardsmen who            served in Vietnam in their proper place of honor and dedication to the            nation and the Coast Guard.
The response to the initial issue of                        The Pricker has been wonderful. To make it a further                        success we ask for contributions of articles, commentary,                        professional notes or know-how and photos.
