03.05.01 ALBANIAN TERRORIST CALLS THIS "REAL DIALOGUE".
Head of municipal government of the south-Serbian town of Presevo and leader of the negotiation team of ethnic Albanian UCK terrorists Naser Aziri said that he will negotiate with Serbia's government about the withdrawal of the Yugoslav army from municipalities of Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja and a creation of a local ethnic Albanian police force that should be financed from the budget of Serbia. He called the negotiations that should start on 4 May "the beginning of the real dialogue".

01.05.01 THE SIXTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FALL OF SERB PROVINCE WESTERN SLAVONIA.
Today is the sixth anniversary of the fall of the Serb province Western Slavonia. On 1 May 1995 Croat forces expulsed 15.000 and killed 283 Serbs, among them 57 women and nine children within 48 hours in an action called "Bljesak" (flash) which was planned and supported by the US army. There are 24 defenders of the Serbian Western Slavonia in Croatian prisons today. In Cortanovci on the Danube an Orthodox memorial service for the victims of the Croat agression was held.

01.05.01 ORTHODOX CONFERENCE IN KOSOVO.
A conference of representatives of orthodox churches from Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Poland and a representative of the Vatican started today in the monastery of Gracanica in Kosovo. The theme of the meeting is the spiritiual activity among the foreign soldiers in the Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija. At the beginning of the conference an orthodox service was held by the Serbian Patriarch Pavle and several orthodox bishops in the Cathedral Church of Belgrade. Patriarch Pavle decorated the Russian priest Vitaliy Tarasyev, the head of the Belgrade branch of the Moscow Patriarchy, with the decoration of Saint Danilo of Moscow which was issued to him by the Russian Patriarch Alexey II.

29.04.01 TENSIONS IN MACEDONIA. ALBANIAN TERRORISTS KILL POLICEMAN AND SOLDIERS.
Albanian terrorist killed eight Macedonian policemen and soldiers from an ambush on the mountain of Sar Planina. After the funeral of four young orthodox soldiers in Bitolj, riots broke out. Ethnnic Albanians from this town killed an orthodox Macedonian with a gun. Macedonians responed with the demolition of several businesses of ethnic Albanians and Macedonian moslems. The police prevented the revenge of the Macedonians.

29.04.01 RUSSIA INTRODUCES TRANSIT VISAS FOR US NATIONALS.
Russia on May 6 is introducing transit visas for U.S. citizens travelling to third countries through Russia, sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry's Consular Department said on Saturday. This is a responsive measure to the introduction of transit visas for Russian citizens by the U.S. on April 6, Interfax cites the sources as saying.

The Russian booster Soyuz-U carrying the manned spacecraft Soyuz TM-32 with the first visiting expedition to the International Space Station, including an American space tourist, was launched from the Baikonur space center at 11:37 a.m. Moscow time on Saturday, news agencies report.

Hearing of the case of Colonel Yury Budanov, accused of murder of Chechen girl Elza Kungayeva, is going on in Rostov-na-Donu. After three other children of Kungayev’s family are interrogated, the court will announce a break till May 7 in connection with forthcoming holidays.

27.04.01 ACCORDING TO THE WORLD BANK'S DATA, THERE ARE MORE THAN 1.2 BILLION POOR PEOPLE AND BEGGARS IN THE WORLD NOW.
There are more than 1.2 billion poor people and beggars in the world now. These data are cited in a new report on the situation in the world drafted by the World Bank's experts and timed to coincide with the May 1st holiday which is marked in many countries.

The State Duma on Thursday passed the draft law limiting foreign interests in Russian mass media to under 50%. The draft law was passed on the first reading. 332 deputies voted for this document, 22 voted against, and three abstained, Interfax has learned.
