There are a number of places where you can get your own board. This page shows examples of how it works, as an extension of the Forums page.
This forum examples page describes what is known by various names such as message boards, boardroom facility, discussion boards, conference boards, forums, bbs boards, wwwboards, etc. The idea is to eventually show various boards by means of frames. However, some services - such as Inside the Web - do not allow their boards to be displayed in frames. So, for the time being, you will have to select the links below to get an idea of what these boards look like.
LinKo
One of the best places is LinKo, a Korean organization that provides free wwwboards on their sites and guestbooks, counters, clipart and a banner-exchange scheme for your page. Note that many of the ads are in Korean script.
For an example, look at this
Discussions WWWBoard at Linko. You can leave a message there if you like! Check out the subject Discussions, they contain guidelines on what is possible at such boards! There is a search facility, allowing you to search by subject, name or text (keyword or phrase). You can add a password, which allows you to change your entry when you come back another time.
CommunityWare
At CommunityWare, you can join a community and participate in conferences there.
You need to register before entering. Once you have joined, you can also set up your own community, start your own conferences, chatroom, etc.
Inside The Web
Inside the Web
does not require prior registration, visitors can get straight into discussions! Check out this Pink Floyd Message Board to see how it works! At Inside the Web, you can search for boards according to category. You can set your board to moderated, meaning that any messages will have to be approved by you first, before they show up on the board.
Inside the Web also has an index of boards.
BeSeen
Be Seen is another great provider of free message boards, they call their service Boardroom. There is a good example board at their page, showing you that you can set the board to either accept HTML or strip it out, so that visitors cannot leave active indecent links or Javascripts on your board.
