Megan's Law / Sex Offender Registries

Each state has it's own version of Megan's Law. In some states information about child molesters is available only to police. Megan's Law requires child molesters to register. If a child molester fails to register the punishment is usually light, in some states it is only a misdemeanor. Another alarming fact is some have no address verification. Some states only include child molesters convicted or released from prison in the last few years. (See the link below to find your state)

What can be done?

We need long-term prison sentences for first-time convicted child molesters. We also need a much stronger version of Megan's Law in every state. Child molesters receive treatment, lenient sentences and very often only probation. They receive more consideration and have more rights than their little helpless victims. Despite treatment and Megan's Law, they still continue to molest and rape children. (See Crimes Against Children)
