Gomphus

One of the more unique bands to come out of Brantford, unfortunately they broke up before they even had a chance to get good. Their strange haunting music was only heard live at only two known shows. Once at the St. George Memorial Community Centre December 22nd 1994 (tape code CN-01-25) and another time at the same venueMarch 3rd 1995 without their female singer.

What is a Gomphus? Its a fungus.

Gomphus consisted of a standard rock line up of guitar, bass (Ryan Porteous), drums and vocals which were sung through an electronic loud horn with special effects, using the alien voice setting.

Gomphus featured Ryan Porteous who was also the bass player for the Earthlings and later was to become the drummer for Transylvania 500.

This is the only known photo of Gomphus taken March 3rd 1995 (Ryan Porteous) on bass and guitarist.
