Y-Us
This band changed their name from Us.
According to Entertainment Brantford? Issue #6, November 1996 Chris Spiers was a drummer for this band. He also drummed for Pocket Faith Healers and Shape and was just starting to play with Dianthus at he time of the article.
They mentioned in an article in Entertainment Brantford?, Issue #3, May 1996 as having won thrid prize in a poorly run battle of the bands at the Turnaround in Brantford. Another article in the same issue read:
Y-Us Gives More Than We Expect
One of Brantford's newest bands has already put together a demo and are proving that they are for real. Y-Us' self-titled cassette features eight original songs that sound very polished. Their aggressive rock is quite advanced and the result is a very listenable debut. The sound quality isn't the greatest, but the songs themselves more than make up for it. Y-Us are proving that they can play live as well; their show in the Turnaround's Battle of the Bands was solid and energetic. They also played an important gig opening up for the Barstool Prophets recently and will go far if they continue to book solid shows like these. The demo can be bought for only four dollars from any member in the band, or by calling (519) 751-1406.
a later article mentioned that the tape was really $3.

In Other News...
It is said that there will be a new Vibe CD available in July. The Brantford based album will feature five or six local acts performing a few of their songs. Look for Pilate and Y-Us on the disc with others...

Soundzone Throws Unbeatable Parties
...A winter outdoor show would likely be impossible, so the organization took their act indoors, having a dance party that just didn't do that well. They gave up on that idea and went for another show this year, as advertised in the last issue of "EB?" June 28th at the Harlequin Club in Brantford featured performances by the Pocket Faith Healers, Y-Us, Run Perry Run, Pilate and Tangled and Weeved. 750 people showed up and the party was excellent. Current plans were to hold a Soundzone on August 24th, but the show had to be cancelled at the last minute...
