Queen Cleo was walking down the stairs of her summer house as she saw Princess Shendel walking in the door.
"I want to thank you for letting us set camp on your land, your highness," said the Princess.
"Oh, it was nothing," Cleo replied casually, with a little smirk. "I understand completely. Some royal families simply can’t afford to have better conditions."

Shendel’s face turned into a deep crimson shade, but she remained calm. "My father and I are quite trained in military situations, and find ourselves very comfortable out of doors," she replied coolly, "If we wanted to, we could easily rent a room in one high-priced inn or another, but we would rather use the money towards other, more important matters."

As she finished speaking, King Braun and King Marck walked in through the yellow door. "How are you, dear ladies?" asked Braun.
"Perfectly splendid," the Queen responded with what Shendel decided was a fake smile. "I was just chatting with your daughter about kingdom priorities."
"Excellent," he replied, "Your husband kindly gave me a tour of the grounds and showed me where we can make ourselves at home. Shall we go, Shendel?"
"Yes, please," said the princess.
"Thank you again for the kind hospitality," King Braun gestured at the royal couple, "We appreciate it."
"Certainly," said Cleo with another smile. "We hope you enjoy your stay. If you wish, I shall save you both seats next to me at the meeting. And you’ll be able to meet my son and his fiancée."
"With pleasure," the king answered, then headed for the door.

"I don’t like her, father," Shendel said quietly as they walked away. "And did you notice how little the king spoke when she was around? She must scare him." "Oh, don’t act so," was the reply, "They offered us to camp on their grounds, and are very hospitable." She nodded slightly. "I don’t know. She just…I don’t like her." "Don’t let first impressions deceive you," Braun said, "Cleo is a dignified lady, and we may be able to get Marck and her to aid us in future endeavors. Try to be pleasant to her, alright?" Shendel shrugged. "All right," she heaved a sigh.
