Happy New Year to all, and let's keep dancing!!

We had a great first monff at the dance studio; actually more like a monff and a half, but we was all busy partying over the holidays, right? We haf about 55 memfurs now and lotsa plans! Remember to check our schedule of classes and dance nights here. Membership is easy, to apply send us an email here. Members don't haf to take dance classes to use the studio (or attend dance nights) unless they want to.



Last monff we spotlighted our ballet classes, and we had wonderpurr attendance efurry Monday. The girls are doing so well, in fact they are floating around and twirling like real ballerinas already! Here they are in the Ballet Class picture we took:

This monff we wil be spotlighting our Latin Dance classes, and inviting all mew flamenco and tango luffing memfurs and partners to come for classes efury Thursday, learn some good new moves, and attend Latin Dance night! We're sneaky, we might be taking pictures! Our Latin Dance teachers, Mewsette and E.T., will be demonstrating some new ones, and some of mew are already such good dancers. It's gonna be great fun!



We've received sefural new items in our Shoppe, including a selection of tote bags. Please let us know if mew would like us to order anything.

Flashdance

"Flashdance" is about a girl named Alex, wif a dream. She has a job as a welder at a steel mill by day and a job dancing in a bar at night, but what she really wants is to be a classical ballet dancer. What we liked best about her was her determination and hard work to realize her dream. She was preparing for ballet by getting herself in shape and learning the furry athletic "flashdance" moves from young people in the streets of the city. Finally she was able to begin studying and practicing classical ballet at the Pittsburg Conservatory of Dance.

The dancing scenes are stunning! It's not all ballet, and there are some great moves and techniques fur us to learn from. The music is so good it makes you wanna dance!

This movie was a big hit when it came out, partly because of the wonderfur musical score. "Flashdance- What a Feeling" was the number one hit song of the year, 1983. It's a purrty adult movie, and not fur kittens to see, but I think we girls who are studying ballet and have dreams to be ballerinas will get a lot of encouragement from it. It's also purrty honest about the hard work involved. But it shows that your dream can be realized if you give it your all, like Alex did. It's a great message and a feel-good movie at the end. We think mew will enjoy it, too.

One New Year's Eve Ball was cancelled just before Christmas, but may be opening later. So we gathered up our furriends and all went dancing at the Crystal Ballroom on New Year's Eve. Join us right here! It was a wonderful night of dancing!

The 20th Century Guild New Year's Eve party is still going strong Right Here. It's a luffly, elegant party wif plenty of good food, and we had a great time!
