Task

There is to be a town meeting, discussing the pros and cons of this new "Constitution." This new document needs to be ratified by nine of our thirteen great states. Up until this time the debates have all been held in private sessions, the Constitutional Convention.

While thirty-nine delegates signed the Constitution, it is now time for some representatives to  present the new document to the public. They will rely on their "spin doctors" to prepare them to assist them in presenting their side in the very best light.

These "spin doctors" will need to research various documents produced over the past several years. It is imperative that they create a simple timeline to help them sort out who said what, and when. Proclamations, committee reports, treaties - do these people ever stop? Broadsides with rallying cries. Political cartoons.

There will be six groups, the "spin" team for five VIPs and one moderator/historian. It is essential that each team get the facts straight so that their representative can be as persuasive as possible during the town meeting. It has been a very long, arduous summer since the Convention began in May (1787), and while the weather is cooling down a bit now (September, 1787), the issues are certain to heat things up.
