History of Internet
The Internet was conceived by the US military in the 1960¡¦s.
They wanted to ensure that in the event of an enemy attack they would still have a means of communicating.
So if an attack was made on one of their central communication locations the other locations would still be able to communicate with each other.
The US Department of Defense became interested in using networks.
This was a new concept at the time so the military funded the research on networking using a variety of technologies through the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA).
In the 1970s ARPA had a few networks and one of their projects was a WAN called ARPANET which was being used by universities and research institutes.
