Auburn University Library

As a family of CFS, you are able to get a library card at the Auburn University Library that entitles you to check out ten books at a time and keep them for four weeks. These books can be renewed on-line 1 time. There is only a $5 charge to make your picture ID. As of Jan 1, 2004, there is an annual charge of $35 per year per card. Husband and wife are both eligible to get a card. (You must be over 18 to get a card.) The reason you have this privilege is because CFS will be held responsible to pay any fines for lost books if the card holder does not pay them. CFS has not had to pay any fines to the library up to this time, and as long as it stays that way, there will be no yearly charge for the card. Also, to prevent problems, never turn books in at the book drop. Turn the books in at the front desk on the second floor desk only, and ask for a receipt. Also, it would be helpful to ask for a print out of the books that you are checking out so you can keep up with them better.

If you are not familiar with the AU Library, and would like a tour, watch for times and dates that will be scheduled later. You can obtain your card and or learn how to e-mail and access the CFS web site at this time. Be sure to e-mail, or snail mail me a note that you want to use the AU Library so I can turn your name in to the library so you can get a card.

NOTE: If you have already requested a library card, the list has already been sent for the 2001 school year. You can go to the first floor information desk at the parking garage entrance and they will tell you where to go to get your card. Be sure to tell them you are with CFS and your name and they will find you on the list.

Horseshoe Bend Bookmobile

This bookmobile has been a wonderful service to home school families, although it stops only in the following counties:

» Coosa » Elmore
» Lee » Tallapoosa

Although most patrons live in these counties, families in the surrounding counties may still obtain a card. The bookmobile will be at each designated stop once a month. They have books, audio books, audio cassette tapes, and video tapes. If you miss a month, your books are automatically renewed. I have donated a number of home schooling books and recommend that if you have some that you've read and they are just taking up space on your shelves, that you donate them to the bookmobile so that others can read them. Call the Horseshoe Bend Library at 1-800-747-9232 to find out which stop is most accessible for your family. You can also find out more about the Horseshoe Bend Library at www.mindspring.com/~hbrl/hbrl.html.
