Goodbye

Just another hypocrite down a very long, long line:
I hope you get the gist of it --
Things aren't always fine.
I thought I carried a lighter load;
I thought the way was true.
But here I am out on the road
Alone, and without you.

I can't say if it's day or night;
My ears and eyes are blind.
My heart, I fear, is full of fright;
These days, so few are kind.
Now I'm living on the run,
I seek a place to hide.
I thought it was a miracle when I was by your side.

This is where I'm really at:
It's neither here nor there.
In trying to find myself, it's that
I think I should be fair.
I see you smile into a frown
I know that isn't nice,
Because hurting someone's feelings
Just won't play in Paradise.

I look into the mirrored glass;
I laugh, and then I cry.
This loneliness I hope will pass,
I know that I will try
To be just who it is I be;
I trust you do the same.
Perhaps one day, we will be free
To share the candled flame.

The world could be a better place --
Is it an easy thing to do?
You stop judging me, and I stop judging you.
Perhaps I'm asking way too much
To see things eye to eye:
Oh, if you would just consider such ...
If not, I guess, goodbye.

Ponderosa Pine

Ponderosa pine:
Up the mountainside they climb
Breathe the air and feel the breeze
As the wind blows through the trees.
Hear a wild coyote call
Beside a raging waterfall --
Everything is just fine
In a perfect state of mind --
Ponderosa pine.

You can see the stars at night,
'Cause everyone shines so bright.
Like a fountain's endless stream,
They lullabye you in your dreams.
Call the wilderness your home!
You won't ever be alone.
Don't you worry about the time
In a perfect state of mind
Ponderosa pine.

Ponderosa pine:
The river wends and then she winds.
She'll cure the aching in your soul
Where meadows bloom and the flowers grow.
Take a walk upon her trail.
Let the Spirit tell Her tale.
See this kingdom where you find
The perfect state of mind
And ponderosa pine.
See this Kingdom where you find
The perfect state of mind
And ponderosa pine.

Face the Light

How can anyone hurt a child?
Stealing all the innocence away;
And who can stop my heart from running wild
And chase the anger and the demons all away?

For when I look at her fast asleep,
All alone and silent, resting in her bed,
I can only hope to God the dreams she keeps
Are in the place where only angels dare to tread.

But if you violate the sanctum of her mind,
And you lie to her and say that it's all right,
I will tell you, brother, that you have crossed the line,
And you better be prepared to face the light!

When nothing seems to work to ease the pain,
Yet you hope that justice will stand the test of time.
When love within my heart still remains,
Then I will know I've reached the mountain I must climb.

To give my life to you inside your hands,
Is the only thing that matters all the while.
If all men could live like brothers throughout the lands
Then all these crying faces may one day turn to smiles.

So, please protect the children with your life!
And guide them every minute with your love.
Help them each to reach beyond the strife
So that the light within their eyes can shine above:
They need your love!

Inside This Dream

You slipped away to leave behind,
The echoes deep within your mind,
You set sail, before the break of day.

Ten thousand miles you travelled on,
To reach the shore beyond the dawn,
And anchored there -- oh, your life had so much to say.

If it only were a dream
I'd wake up in the morning bathing in beams,
With the sunlight brightly shining
And my heart would not be pining, as it seems:
If it only were a dream.

I see sparkles in your eyes:
They bring me hellos and not goodbyes.
Yes, I think there's someone out there
Who knows just how long it all remains.

I will walk along with you
Up on the path we know as true,
And together we will roll away the stone of our pain...

Ah, but is it only a dream?
To wake up in the morning bathing in beams?
With the sunlight brightly shining
And our hearts would not be pining, as it seems:
To live inside this dream,
Inside this dream.

Top of the Mountain

Been on top of the mountain
Looking over the sea
Drinking from the well of the fountain
Time telling us what will be.
And I want to see what will be,
I want to see what will be.

Look at the wonderful sunrise
Oh such a beautiful day!
Behold the joy and the surprise:
Everything coming our way.
Coming away, coming away,
Coming away, coming away.

Up above in the night sky
All the stars very bright
I see reflected in your eyes
The jewel and crown of the light.
Shining light, shining light,
Shining light, shining light.

A vision of sisters and brothers
Living in peace on the land.
Strong in their love for each other,
Putting their hearts in their hands!
And they stand with peace in their hands,
They stand with peace in their hands.
Together we stand
With peace in our hands
Together we stand with peace.

Go On Living

Light streaming in through the door of your life
Takes you beyond all the trouble and strife.
It sets you down
Back on the ground:
You go on living.

These days a true friend is so hard to find.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm out of my mind.
And then it happens, I'm out of the clouds
And I'm giving,
Giving too,
I'm giving, giving to you.

I look around me and what do I see?
Some people walking, they're as blind as can be.
And in a moment of truth
I can tell what they're thinking.
There's a poor man out on the street
A motherless child with nothing to eat.
The lonely dogs lick the sores on their feet,
Aren't you thinking?
Aren't you thinking only of you?

A fighter plane circles wide in its stream
Dropping its load; you hear voices scream.
All the buildings come down
Bodies scattered below.
All this is madness like in a bad dream
When you wake up, your shirt is torn at the seams.
The radio's on;
Newspaper flies in the window.

(repeat first verse)

Go on living,
Go on giving.

Calcutta

Look out the window in the sun
And gaze into the street.
There (ain't) nobody having any fun
'Cause they're frying in the heat!
Children lying all over the road
And they're crying!
People having to wear heavy loads
And they're dying!

See their so-called neighbors unaware,
Who have not yet realized
That seeking their own pleasures and affairs
Has got them all hypnotized.
"What will you do for me?" is their code.
(It's so cold!)
It's never "What can I do for thee in my abode?"
(Come home to my abode!)

My sister feeds the hungry
Bringing food for all of them to eat.
Caring for the lonely, she binds their wounds,
With love she helps to treat.
You can see in her face,
You can see in her eyes:
Compassion and grace in her heart
From the skies.

So look out the window, fellow hands,
And see your brothers all around.
The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
And the world is going down!
The stars are going to fall down in the night.
The sun will be dark
And the moon give no light.

So look out the window
And see your brothers all around,
Your sisters all around,
The children all around.

Other Side of Knowing

On the other side of knowing,
The miracle of time
Leads me into showing
All these things I hoped I'd find.
The reason for the answer
Comes knocking on my door;
Spinning round as the dancer
She waits, then shows me more.

Inside I have this feeling,
Outside I breathe the air.
I reach to touch the ceiling
And you're there!

The water: you can hold it;
It will cleanse your hands to touch.
This light: you cannot fold it,
Your words -- they mean so much!
I am strong but oh, so weary;
The soul is not weak.
You can see the village clearly
When your heart begins to speak.

(Chorus)

It's more than just one moment
These faces that we share.
The secret to unfoldment:
I let you know I care!
For underneath your pillow
Your silent dreams will play;
Upon white clouds that billow
You rise to greet the new day.

(Chorus)

Heart of Pain

I can hear the battle coming
With the fear of stormy skies.
In the rear, the engines humming,
A lover's tear and children's cries.

Papa, where have you gone to?
Brother and sister, gone the same.
Mother dear, what have we come to,
When all around us burns in flames?

The way of war is not the answer,
Behind the doors and locked in chains.
More and more it's like a cancer
How to heal this heart of pain?
How to heal this heart of pain.

I can see the sun is setting
It disappears before my eyes.
All the years we kept forgetting
And now we have to pay the price.

O my Friend, where are you hiding?
I think that we have lost our way.
I trust in You to do the guiding
And lead us to the brand new day.

I hope that peace one day will find us;
I pray the time is soon to be
When all the wars are left behind us,
So we can live in harmony,
We can live in harmony!

Look to the Wind

I look to the wind
And I see my direction.
I know that I've been
Here all along.
It's easy to find,
So I make the connection.
It appears in my mind and I know I belong.

One of these days,
I'm going to stop going crazy
In the many old ways
I've gone before.
I'm going to cut through that haze
And stop being lazy
Climb on out of this phase
And come back no more.

It seems to me
I'm on the road again.
Like I've been told: "My friend,
It's time to be free."
It seems to be
My life unfolds again,
Heaven, you know, my friend,
Is watching over me!

Two castles stand
High upon one mountain
Looking over the land
From the sky to the ground.
I hope you understand
Our love needs no counting
So we place no demand
On this beauty we have found.

And it seems to me
I'm on the road again.
Like, I've been told: "My friend,
You've got to be free!"
It seems to be
My life unfolds again.
And Heaven -- you know, my friend --
Is watching over thee!

So look to the wind
And you'll see your direction.
You'll know that you've been
Here all along.
It's easy to find,
So you make the connection.
It appears in your mind
And you know you belong.

Friendly Forest

If you've seen a meadow
In the mountains reaching high
Or watched for the blossoms in the spring,
Then surely you have noticed
As you often wondered why
The Spirit keeps on calling you to sing.

For in the friendly forest
The gentle breezes sigh
With a whisper of the songbird on the wing.
The reason is the season
Brings the flowers to the sky
For nature is the garment of the king!

Heaven's hands for each and every one
Come away and you'll see
The miracle of living in the sun
Like dancing underneath a Christmas tree...

Heaven's hands for each and every one
Come away and you'll see
The miracle of living with the Son
Like dancing underneath the Christmas tree.

Wildwood

When I am alone in the wildwood
Bending my heart unto the sky,
I seem to recall about my childhood
All the miracles of life passing by.
The autumn geese were well upon their way
Trumpeting farewell until the spring
The sea and misty moor and salty spray
Were heralding the presence of a king
Were heralding the presence of the King!

When I stood alone upon the mountain
Looking just as far as I could see
I drank from the wellspring of the fountain
And I tell you, Lord, You brought me to my knees!
Above me shone the starstreams endless light!
Below me the land stretched forth her hand.
Aurora she did hold me through the day and night
Like a long-lost child's final stand.
A long-lost child's final stand.

All along the ocean floor
Seaweed strands like psalms of yore
Washing up on history's shore
In the time of you and me.
I have come to realize
Up above the deep blue skies,
Another curtain's rising far beyond the one we see.

So, let us go alone in the wildwood:
We can meet where we think the secret lies.
We only have to keep this little childhood
And already I can see it in your eyes.
For the morning's dawn is swiftly coming near
While the flock flies through in love with perfect time.
There is nothing that we need or have to fear
In this forest of rhythm and of rhyme,
The forest of rhythm and of rhyme.

Easel of the Sky

Oh, once there was a sailor
Who sailed across the seas.
And once there was a miner
Who dug the roots of trees.
And once there was a climber
The mountains he did know,
And once a fairy gardener
Whose seeds did always grow.
Seeds did always grow,
Seeds did always grow.

And those who had been listening
Come running around the bend
Into the great a-glistening,
The Beginning and the End.
And those who let distraction
Bid them wayside lay,
Can only hope tomorrow
Will be the better day.
Be the better day, Lord,
Oh, be the better day!

For in a sudden moment,
The twinkling of an eye,
Will come the just unfoldment
From the easel of the sky.
Easel of the sky,
Easel of the sky.

Pocketful of Promises

With a pocketful of promises
In a roomful of schemes,
Maybe can you tell me:
Is it really as it seems?
Your back is to the mirror
Your face against the wall!
Better return to sender
Before the whole world falls.
'Cause it's time to hear the call,
Time to heed the call,
One and all!

When the sun gives no more shining
And the moon gives not her beam,
On a journey into finding
Out the meaning of this dream.
Chasing after money
Can really bring you down!
Let's go taste the honey
And wear our garden wedding gown.
And come listen to the sound:
Love is all around,
Love is all around,
Love is all around.
All around is love
And love is all around.
