one of my favorite things to do at camp, was visit the claypits. i loved it! mucking around in all that clay...feeling the cool mud against my skin...
it was definately a great time.
for those of you who don't know...the claypits are located at the end of camp fitch's beach property. they are directly below boys camp, at the bottom of the cliff. i have seen old, over grown paths leading down the cliff, that are alot closer to the pits...but due to the erosion and trees taking over, one must walk all the way from the docking and swimming area.
the pits are at the bottom of the cliff, on the beach, formed from clay coming off the sides. it ends up in this huge 'pit' where campers can jump in, lay in, sink in...
it was just way cool! (unless, of course, you hike all the way down there, and the pits are dried up!!) i am no even sure if they are still in use...but i do know that they were one of the greatest things...after we spend hours of lounging in goopie clay, throwing it at each other and basking in the mud...we would all be off to jump into lake erie! (hey, we had to wash off, right?)
i remember, once, when one of my fellow campers got clay INSIDE their suit...they took it off in the lake. she thought she was funny, swinging it around and goofing off...little did she know that boys camp was right on top of that cliff!!!! i heard that one time..boys camp was peering in on a quick skinny dipping session after the pits! (hey! i said you gotta wash that clay off somehow!!! *giggle*)

another of my most favorite things to do was PUDDLE JUMP!!! after a heavy rain..or heck...DURING the heavy rain...we would take off and hit every puddle we could find!!! they were awesome! there were soooo many! we would have jumping contests, sliding contests....everything!
this one time, we found the biggest puddle...doen by the horsebaarn. it was in front, where everyone gathers for the tour, you know? and it was HUGE! we spent like, an hour there...but you know what? we sure did smell funny after that!!! hmmm?
