Gene Battell

Wit and Words
of
Social Injustice

I have known Gene for 14 years. His poems of social injustice reminds me that "all men are NOT created equal".

Gene has more "intestinal fortitude" than the average man.

Tax The Filthy Rich

for in Gig Harbors' murky waters lie
Georgy Weherhausers floating Mansion riding high

Seen inside are untaxed write offs and business riches
Plundered from us poor overtaxed working sons-a-bitches

Ahoy, this rich boys toy needing not an oar
A real joy costing him millions more

Is fitted out sleek
Well built of shiny metal and teak

This plaything a water borne Palace Ball
for a legal ripoff paying no income taxes at all

Of all timber cut by the loggers saw
Big Logging companies damn near got it all

No wonder they holler the gypo fallers have only pecker poles to slaughter
These poor devils short on dollars can't feed their sons and daughters

Alas the working class is bombarded with right wing scorn and hate
Regarded on the social register as trash that doesn't rate

If City Hall doesn't nab them the Tax man grabs em at will
Rebelliously they eat their swill watching fatcats dining on Capitol Hill

Johnny Get Your Gun

Johnny Rebel things are sad the Nations gone Loco Mad
for our leaders plundered our future and our flag

If one wonders why things are the way they are
The reason is we let our politicians go to far

Now people tell me it is too late
I say to them theirs is a cowards fate

For if you don't stand up and fight
Gone will be your citizens right

Soon Johnny Rebel the time has come
To arm against these thieving scum

Therefore never give up your guns
They speak for freedom not for fun

Grease them well in cosmoline
Bury them 'neath the grassy green

Lay them deep beneath a tree
They may one day set you free

Freed of the Fat Cats, politicians and Bureaucrats
That damn well know the hard cold facts of muzzle flash

Johnny Rebel soon is time to load and lock your gun
for crimes against us they have done
1990

The Great American Pig

All pigs should be more than concerned
for all the poor devils they have battered and burned

If I was a pig I'd be thinking hard
How it would feel converted to stinking lard

There are Pigs that are kind even though dumb
Also some Pigs meaner than hell nothing but scum

Remember folks Todays Pig is tomorrows bacon
for heads they've bashed and bones left aching

Some folks are asking when will it stop
I'd just guess, when bad pigs get cooked in pot

Sooie Sooie their sport is trailing bars looking for swill
Bringing in the slop on the great D.U.I.-D.U.I. Kill
