About
Phi Kappa Chapter....
Membership in Chi Omega
is truly a life time experience-- one of friendship, sisterhood, leadership and
personal growth. Today Chi Omega is the largest women's fraternal
organization in the world with 240,000 initiates and over 170 collegiate
chapters. Since it's beginning, Chi Omega has nurtured its members by
providing them with unique opportunities in leadership, in scholarship, and in
life-long friendship. Ours is a distinguished history...and our most
vital role has been the preparation of young women to achieve their highest
possible aspirations.
Throughout Chi Omega's long and proud history six purposes
have guided the direction of every chapter and brought its members unequaled
opportunities for personal growth and development. Those purposes are
Friendship, High Standards of Personnel, Sincere Learning and Creditable
Scholarship, Participation in Campus Activities, Career Development and
Community Service.
Chi Omega's at the University of West
Georgia are very involved with the community and philanthropy projects.
Our new National Philanthropy is Make-A-Wish foundation. We also actively participate in Relay for Life and
A-Day. Chi Omega has hosted a variety of philanthropy projects, such as;
Big Man on Campus, Chili dinner, and we raffled off a DVD player.
Our chapter is also part of the Chi Omega Foundation which raises money for
scholarships for its members.
Besides Chi Omega, our members actively participate in many
other activities. Such as intramurals, summer orientation staff,
University Ambassadors, Student Government Association, Leadership to Go, Prep
Program, Student Activity Council, Phi Sigma Pi, Beta Gamma Sigma, Campus
Outreach, Student League, Order of Omega and Honors Program. Some Chi
Omega sisters have also received many awards and honors such as Who's Who among
college students, Dean's list, Presidents award and Distinguished Student
Leader. As a sorority we have won the Picklesimer Award, The Intramural
Challenge Cup and first place in Video night during Greek Week 2001.
We have the opportunity to interact with all the
fraternities through socials, mixers and date parties. Throughout the
year we have many social events including White Carnation Formal, Chi Omega
Owl-O-Ween, Scholarship banquets and Family day. One of our main
priorities is scholarship. In fact, we had a cumulative grade point average of
3.09 for spring semester.
Chi Omega is a sister hood that provides a network of
friends and life long development for collegiate and alumnae members. Its vital
role has been the preparation of young women to achieve their highest possible
aspirations.
