CHRISTMAS

Esperanto version : Ding Dong! Plenas en ĉiel'
Verkis : George Ratcliffe WOODWARD
Source : Adoru 208
Ding dong! Merrily on high
In heav'n the bells are ringing:
Ding dong! verily the sky
Is riv'n with angel-singing.
Glo------------------------------ria,
Hosanna in excelsis!
Glo------------------------------ria,
Hosanna in excelsis!
E'en so here below, below,
Let steeple bells be swungen,
And io, io, io,
By priest and people sungen:
Glo------------------------------ria,
Hosanna in excelsis!
Glo------------------------------ria,
Hosanna in excelsis!
Pray you, dutifully prime
Your matin chime, ye ringers;
May you beautifully rhyme
Your e'entime song, ye singers.
Glo------------------------------ria,
Hosanna in excelsis!
Glo------------------------------ria,
Hosanna in excelsis!
Notes: "io" is pronounced like the letters "E-O", with the accent on the "O"; "swungen" and "sungen" are given as in Adoru, though they strike me as a bit shocking in their archaism, even for Woodward (who was capable of archaism).
