Please take note that the following is information I found, none of the events were ever witnessed by me personally.

The history of Circle of Power remains a mysterious one that has eluded many for quite some time. It is, however, a well known fact that the Circle of Power does not trace its roots back to the realm of Materia Magica, but to that of Medievia. Medievia is a somewhat larger world with much chaos and terror reigning throughout the lands. On Medievia there were an elite group of adventurers who found that they had a supernatural understanding of life and the elements. Soon they found themselves in a group, struggling to master all that is to be learned, swapping forbidden knowledge and stories.

And so the story begins, with Endymion in the forefront. After cruising the mud lists, fate landed him on Materia Magica (back in the day when Materia Magica was a MUD, not an IEN). There were an average of 15 people on roaming the lands at any given time, and getting twelve attacks in one round was not completely out of the question. As those who play Materia Magica as of date will testify, getting twelve attacks in a normal round of combat is, in a word, impossible.

Endymion soon decided to get his friends together and start a clan. Starting a clan at the time was much harder than starting a clan currently is. There was, of course, the 10,000 tourmaline cost. One should not, however, forget that very few knew the way to the Proving Grounds, where these tourmalines had to be gathered. Perhaps 20 on the entire mud knew. With this in mind, one must also take note that Endymion (or so he says) gathered each and every of the 10,000
tourmalines on his own.

The first members of Circle of Power were Cassie, Mythos, Hecate, Hoggle, and of course Endymion. Together they soon gathered enough tourmalines to get a size A clan hall. They were the second clan to get a size A clan hall. It took about a month and a half of nonstop collecting. As nice as the hall was, it would appear that it just wasn't good enough for Cassie, who toiled night and day to get the majority of the tourmalines and maleficarum roots to get a size B clan hall. They were the first to do this (if I am mistaken, please tell me).

After fooling around with the Proving Grounds for awhile, Endymion and part of the Circle of Power turned predator. They would set traps for people on quests by pushing Lord British (who apparently changed his name to Agrippa for legal reasons...) into the oh-so-famous CPK closet in the castle. Upon returning from quests, adventurers would venture into the closet
and find themselves in the void. Their equipment, however, remained in the hands of Circle of Power. After some time quest equipment was returned to people because there was such a large surplus.

One of the more popular traps of the day was to create a portal to a large mob, that is to say, Azathoth, and let people innocently enter them. Your humble narrators knows all about this experience, as he found himself face to face with the all might Azathoth once himself. Needless to say I was quickly whining about all the quest equipment I lost.
