Here we go, you are typing the first words that will be sent into cyberspace. Exciting isn't it? How you set up your page is up to you. Some people like to put a title and then move into information. Others will like to include a picture, or chart. It is up to you! Perhaps, if you are not sure, take some time to surf the web and see other sites. There are many unique sites out there! I like to put the links on the bottom of the page, as I have done here. Then, after a person is done reading the page, they can click and move on.
I like to highlight and distinguish important points. It is easy to change the font and colour in Composer, it is like a word processor. You also want people to be able to read your text, so I like to bold it all. Your site will not be any good if it is hard to read. Composer will also let you cut/copy/paste, align (except justify), insert bullets and all of the basic word processing tools.
Please take the time to edit your page. Proper grammar is essential. There are literally millions of sites out there, and if yours is hard to understand people will not return! I like to look at the page after I leave it for a day, as fresh eyes will edit better.
I like to write out the page, and then do a spell check after it is all done. Then, you will have a professional page. It is a sad reflection if you have spelling errors, there is no need. Also, if you wait until you are done, you will not have added text that needs to be checked over. If you have a new section to spell check, highlight and then click the Spelling icon. It will spell check only that section.
BIG HINT: there is an undo option under edit, but you only get ONE undo. If you make a mistake, fix it immediately! You only have one chance...
You can now choose your background colour. I personally like pastels, as you can see! To pick a colour, or if you have a wallpaper file, click on the Format button on the toolbar. Scroll down to Page Colours and Properties. Once you open it, you can choose a Background colour, or customize your own. Also, you can choose a file for the background image. This will be like wallpaper. You can also use an image, Composer will tile it. Be careful here, you still need to be able to read your text. The background should not interfere with it. REMEMBER: you must have this file on your disk with your other files. Otherwise, it will not work. If you take it from your computer, copy it onto your disk. When you put your files on the web, they must all be there. Your computer is not involved, your site does not go back to get files. They must be there.
While you are in Page Colours and Properties, also choose the properties section. Put your name in the author area. When a person looks at your page, they can see who wrote it. After all your hard work, you deserve credit!
Let us move on...
