United
clinch 17th Premier League title
as Chelsea falter
by Angus MacKinnon
Sun May 11, 2:53 PM ET
LONDON (AFP) - Manchester United clinched their 17th English
championship on Sunday by beating Wigan 2-0 in a nail-biting
finale to the most thrilling Premier League title battle in
years.
Pushed to the wire by Chelsea, United claimed the 10th title
of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign by two points after their rivals
were held to a 1-1 draw by Bolton in their final match.
"It was a tough one but it is fantastic," said a delighted
Ferguson. "I'm very proud but I have a great club. It's much
easier for me than anyone else."
Typically, the Scot's thoughts immediately turned to the next
challenge -- next week's Champions League final against
Chelsea.
"The great thing is we are bouncing into the final. We can
look forward to it. If we lost to Chelsea today that is a big
job."
Chelsea boss Avram Grant paid tribute to Ferguson's extension
of an extraordinary record of success. "I want to congratulate
Manchester United and Alex Ferguson," Grant said.
"He is a great manager and a great person, I like him
personally. It is amazing what he did."
Cristiano Ronaldo, with a first-half penalty, and
Ryan Giggs,
on the day he equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 758
Manchester United appearances, were United's match winners.

This year's win of Manchester United at
English Premier League seemingly contains a message for me too. MU last
match that determined their winning, on the same day of closest rival
Chelsea's match against Bolton, was against Wigan. The name of Wigan team is
like a combination of English language and Jakarta language, "We Gak End".
In Jakarta language, "gak" or "nggak" has the meaning of "no" or "not".
So the name of Wigan team sounds like "We Gak
End" or "we're not end". Related with my consent to move to the eternity,
it was like "we're not end, just you Firman who would end from your
existence on earth...."
It was strengthen by the two goals of their
win, the first made by Cristiano Ronaldo, the second by Ryan Giggs. The
last name of Ryan Giggs is like the Indonesian word "gigi" which means
"tooth", like representing myself who has buck teeth. So rather than
christians being zero, it should be better the "gigi"-man Firman.

The final match of Champions League held in
Moscow 21 May 2008 resulted in Manchester United winning against Chelsea.
It was dramatic, after draw in the normal time of 2 x 45 minutes, the
match was held in extra time of 2 x 15 minutes, yet it was still draw.
Inevitably there should be penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.
First it was best of five penalty kicks, whoever scored
better would win. On the third turn of Manchester United kicks, Cristiano
Ronaldo kicked the ball but it hit the post, causing Chelsea to have
the chance to win. Nevertheless, in the fifth turn of Chelsea, John
Terry's ball flew faraway to the left of Edwin Van Der Saar's goal,
making them tie again.
Finally, in the seventh turn, Nicolas
Anelka kicked the ball and it was successfully blocked by Van Der
Saar, and the ball was out of the field, Manchester United won the 2008
Champions League.
Although I had been thinking to watch that
important match held around two o'clock after midnight Jakarta time at
RCTI, but I failed to wake up. When I woke up as usual around fifteen
minutes before four o'clock in the morning, I thought the match had over,
and I watched other programs on TV. But then I heard the neighbor's
scream, the screaming of football fans, making me switched the channel,
and it was already the fourth penalty shoot-out.
The last name of Nicolas Anelka, a Chelsea player that failed to
kick the seventh penalty, containing "an" that reminded me with my
previous letter of "Also Containing Message About Tyas Mirasih and Rahma Sarita"
dated 19 May 2008. That letter also followed by the death of
Sophan Sophiaan on 20 May 2008, whose name also contain "an". I should
be careful with this Tyas and Rahma matter whenever it would turn to be
like "Similarities
of "Turning to Desi" Situation".

On 26 March
2008 Jakarta time, in the morning I wrote at my ex-senior high school
friends mailing list a joke about "Warung pak Hamid", to explain
the meaning of WH that I previously wrote regarding "a message from WH".
In the afternoon on that same day there was the news on TV about Sotheby's
scheduled to auction Francis Bacon's three-panel work, masterpiece
painting titled 'Triptych 1976'.
Recently
came another news that Francis Bacon's three-panel work has been sold in
New York on 14 May 2008 for a record US$86.2 million. And the buyer
is the owner of English Premier League football club
Chelsea, a Russian oil tycoon billionaire Roman Abramovich.
