Lewes
Lewes is lovely! In the southern part of Sussex,
Lewes is just a fine little town to poke around in for an afternoon.
We ended up there due to uncertainty with the weather... it had snowed
early in the morning, but around noon it looked like it just might clear.
We drove to Lewes, thinking we could see the town and then visit a historic
house if it rained, and take a hike if it didn't. Miraculously, the
sky stayed clear so we hiked at the nearby Seven
Sisters, on the coast.
Below, Lewes... look closely in the background
and you can see one of the chalk hills that makes a backdrop for the town.
