Royal Tunbridge Wells

Yet another former resort for taking the waters, Royal Tunbridge Wells was our base for our final four days in England.  It was a great location:  the attractions of Kent and Sussex were easily accessible by car, and we took the train to London one day from the station just down the hill from our B&B.  In Tunbridge Wells itself, we took after-breakfast strolls along the High Street and in the Pantiles, a pedestrian-only shopping area with a good number of antique shops.  There was also an amazing number of flower shops, with some of the most beautiful bouquets I've ever seen just set casually in buckets on the sidewalk for sale.  There was probably more to see in the town, but we had very full days and did most of our exploring elsewhere, coming back to the town to have dinner and collapse for the night.

Formerly the Opera House, now a pub.
