Over the past year, we of Yahoo! Club Founders' Club have found that many of our members are extremely knowledgeable on a variety of subjects, that they possess kindness, patience, and a willingness to share. Occasionally, however, we find a single member who shines, someone who in their participation in our club and within the Yahoo! club system, deserves special recognition. It is our special privilege to acknowledge their dedication, service, and talent.
The Yahoo! Club Founders' Club Member of the Month for August, 2000:
Valerie_008
Valerie_008 is founder/co-founder of three "Listed" Yahoo! clubs (and several "Unlisted" ones):
- Lady Founders 2
A founder's club for women on the Internet ("2" designation indicates club restarted after deleted in hack). [http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/ladyfounders2]
- Eurofounders
A founder's club for European clubs (in English). [http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/eurofounders]
- Clubgründer Forum
A founder's club for Swiss and German Yahoo! clubs (non-English). [http://de.clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/clubgruenderforum]
As you can see, she possesses a special interest in helping other founders to make their clubs the best they can be.
Perhaps, her most outstanding contribution to entire of the Yahoo! club system, however, has been her self-less and often unfairly criticized efforts with The Official Club. Since TOC began, she has diligently kept track of the questions answered by Clubsproducer, recording them to Internet so that new TOC members may follow the many hundred issues addressed on club format, layout, and expected new features. She has, on occasion, directed the TOC club founder to issues still unanswered. Indeed, we are certain without her participation in TOC, that club would be impossible to follow and impossible to manage such that many of the ideas and concerns of CFC members would be lost. Thank you, Valerie_008.

If you haven't seen the sort of thing featured clubs get beyond the club logo which appears on our clubsite for a week, then you haven't seen anything yet.
Each week (sometimes monthly), ArrylT reviews and forwards the name or a list of clubs which have requested and meet the guidelines for featuring (see Feature Policy). A full webpage is prepared with fresh graphics, describing the club, displaying over a dozen graphics for clubsite display, and offering banners and more.
The clubs presented over the past thirty (30) days include:

WINNER OF THE POST #2000 AWARD, yheart1!!! Featured Mondays, August 7 and 14, 2000.

Playing catch-up with all the clubs coming over the past few weeks has been fun (NOT). We end up with one massive list for which we can only they arrived some time between June 26 and August 10. Some represent new clubs created by or representing promotion to foundership status for continuing member. Some represent clubs the founders didn't think they wanted to tell us about when they originally joined CFC. Either way, just because it is a paperwork nightmare, doesn't mean we aren't glad to have them.

Mistybunny announced today that she really, really, really, really, really looking forward to her kids going back to school. Commenting on her summer, she said: "I had a great trip to North Carolina. I didn't like the heat, but otherwise I laughed for 10 days!" It is rumored that she added to this statement: "However, as soon as the kids go back to school, my real vacation starts." If true, all we can say is: Dream on, Mistybunny!
Rumor has it that Our Favorite Collector of Cow Stuff, Rainbow_f_2 has been recruited to be a new Brownie Leader for this fall! Taking charge of a herd of little girls under the age of twelve is really going to make her a lady on the mooo-ove.
Happy Anniversary, Shelties!
The Sheltie Club, home club of four CFC members--Lo_Forde, Hrris, NOWAYWINS, and sheltiefounders--will be celebrating their second anniversary on September 13th. The Sheltie Club is a gathering place for people enamoured of this exceptionally wonderful breed of dog, sharing tips on training, care and grooming, breeding, and showing them. If you are a Sheltie lover, stop by The Sheltie Club [http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/shelties]. And, congratulations, Shelties!!!
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?Unheard from and presumed missing, our beloved chief founder, ArrylT. He was last seen somewhere in the wilderness of Ontario, Canada. Witnesses say he had a decidely glazed expression and was muttering something about "football season." A reward is offered for any information leading up to discovery of his whereabouts. Please contact AngelPie_Mouse (clubfoundersclub) or Mistybunny.
Have you got some club or personal news you'd like to share? Please forward to Mistybunny@Yahoo.Com.

You've probably noticed a rash of glitches affecting Yahoo! clubs this past week and weekend. Click the most recent message listed on the Home or startup page for a club and you don't see post #2419, instead you see Message list for posts #1-40. Go to the Message section and discover the last five posts, most of which are clearly visible on the Home or startup page, aren't listed. Stats are off. People are being dropped from Member rolls. Links and photos are disappearing. What can it mean?
Typically, when Yahoo! starts glitching this much, there's only one answer. They're making programming changes again. We're not sure but we think this particular rash has to do with the newest addition to the Yahoo! family of services is Yahoo! Experts http://experts.yahoo.com/ where you can Ask A Real Live Person Anything! or you can Share Your Unique Knowledge by signing up as a Yahoo! expert.
Begun today, the question portion is in three steps: 1) ask a question; 2) pick the category your question is related to from the usual Yahoo! heirarchy structure; 3) create a subject line and confirm your question. But, don't let the word "Live" fool you. Your question doesn't go to an actual person who will answer it on the spot. Instead, it is posted to a question forum and an answer, when available, will be sent to the address associated with your ID.
Now, if they could only figure out why the December 31, 1969 glitch or why every little change screws the message board, we might have something useful!

Club Visitations, as we call them, are continuing as I write. See, what we do is assign a page from the Member Club Listing to one of our founders or volunteers together with a series of questions to answer concerning each club they visit. Some of the questions pertain to the accuracy of the Member Club Listing: is the club still there? is it properly described? have they added a homepage? Some of the questions concern the look and feel and the health of the club being visited. Are people participating? Has the founder disappeared? And some of the questions have to do with learning from the things the visited club may be doing right. What new ideas can we share with all our members?
It's a great way to learn about the member clubs of CFC, to investigate concepts and tools available, to develop statistical information that may help all of us be better managers at least from what is discernable from the perspective of a club visitor. But we do need more help. If you would like to volunteer, please contact AngelPie_Mouse@yahoo.com
