Featured Clubs

If you haven't seen the sort of thing featured clubs get beyond the club logo which appears on our clubsite for a week, then you haven't seen anything yet.

Each week (sometimes monthly), ArrylT reviews and forwards the name or a list of clubs which have requested and meet the guidelines for featuring (see Feature Policy). A full webpage is prepared with fresh graphics, describing the club, displaying over a dozen graphics for clubsite display, and offering banners and more.

The clubs presented during November included:

New Clubs

Lots of people joined us during the month of November. Too, several of our continuing members had new clubs to add. All of them suggest some truly wonderful club ideas.

Take the time to stop by one or two of these clubs for a visit, or see their description in our Member Club Listing to see if this club is one that appeals to your own interests.

Club policy is to allow membership for ninety (90) days to persons not reporting a club in foundership. This period allows persons who join to learn how to start clubs to ask questions and receive assistance in setting up their clubs. After the grace period, persons who have not reported a club foundership are administratively removed from CFC membership. It's part of our contract with you that all members are founders. If you have not reported a club because you wish the club name to remain confidential or you just forgot, please write: Angelpie_Mouse@yahoo.com.

Club Anniversaries

Considering the volitility of the Internet (and the assistance of hackers making it that way), for a club to survive to its first anniversary is a milestone deserving recognition, for a club to make it to two years is...well! So, this newsletter we recognize all clubs which have survived to celebrate the surpassing of their founding date in the month of December because they did. Clubs marked smile are celebrating a second year anniversary--WOW!.

Club/Member News

Happy Anniversary

On November 27th, our own Mistybunny and hubby celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. In some quarters, being married to each other that long are grounds for divorce...at least you would think so from the glimpses of dysfunction they show on TV and the movies. We know it takes a lot of work on both sides to make a happy marriage, especially one that is nineteen years happy. So congratulations, Mistybunny and hubby! and many happy returns of the day.

Alaskan Wolf Pack

They roam free in the wilderness, unfettered by man or his technologies as they have done for hundreds of years though every year their habitat shrinks, grows a little less open, their game grows a little more scarce, their number fewer. The Alaskan wolf is an appropriate emblem for this club which holds as its main concern the protection of the environment. Founded by frostdoggie, it needs your support. Won't you come to http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/alaskanwolfpack (or click the clubname above) and join in the conversation?

Community Watch Online

Halloween 1999, I received an e-mail from someone who admired my presentation of the holiday. In fact, she admired my page so much she wanted to use it, but not just as a link. She wanted my whole page for her website--graphics, music, short stories, sound effects, and all--and she wanted me to bundle it up and send it to her. And, would I mind very much removing my name. True story however ludicrous it may sound. But, the next question should be how many people took my presentation and didn't ask.

Plagiarism is rampent on the Internet. In an environment where most people ask for only the most modest of attribution as credit for their hours of work, others grab wholesale without a thought for giving credit where credit is due. Sometimes it is out of ignorance, all too often out of laziness. There are even those who will help themselves to art and dialogue and offer to sell it back to you and others on CD--their version of a vanity press.

Well, it's time to fight back. Offered by our member Arizona-Kate, the Community Watch Online program is putting together the facts and details of actions you can take to STOP online theft of your intellectual property. Be a part of the solution, or at least look into it (click the graphic above or go to http://communitywatch.homestead.com).

Thee Oƒƒicial Inkwell

Alska_Du got tired of her club being "Unlisted," got tired of all the deadweight in membership, and got tired of co-founders who had disappeared never to be seen or heard from again, and decided to do some real housekeeping of the club by relisting with something close to the same name.

The new club title features the ASCII versions of the letter "f" in the word official--remember, it was Alska_Du who brought us the ASCII code chart for HTML last month. The address is: http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/theeo8383icialinkwell.

Have you got some club or personal news you'd like to share? Mistybunny wants to hear from you pronto! Please write Mistybunny@yahoo.Com.

Christmas Bookmark Project

The response to our first annual--well, we can hope--Christmas Bookmark Project and Contest was sort of disappointing. I felt like entering just to pad the list. But, Mistybunny and Damsel_in_DDK came through for us, offering up with some pretty good sites--some I didn't even know about and, trust me, I've got one powerful set of bookmarks for holidays year round.

The five categories we were asking for responses in were:

  1. Christmas E-Greetings sites
  2. Virtual Gift sites
  3. Christmas Graphic (ClipArt and Digital)
  4. Christmas Sound and/or Lyric sites
  5. Miscellenous Christmas sites
(for those sites that offer so much Christmas stuff, they defy classification)

And who won the contest? Mistybunny with 30 points. Second place went to Damsel_in_DDK with 28 points. And third place and all mention goes to sharonlower with 2 points, of course, her entry was her club, Christmas Worldwide.
