If you haven't seen the sort of thing featured clubs get beyond the club logo which appears on our clubsite for a week, then you haven't seen anything yet.

Each week (sometimes monthly), ArrylT reviews and forwards the name or a list of clubs which have requested and meet the guidelines for featuring (see Feature Policy). A full webpage is prepared with fresh graphics, describing the club, displaying over a dozen graphics for clubsite display, and offering banners and more.

January is always a month of beginnings, and beginning with Yahoo! Club Founders' Club proved to be something a lot folks thought to be a good idea. There were a lot of new clubs joining us this past month. Too, several of our continuing members had new clubs to add. All of them suggest some truly wonderful club ideas.

Take the time to stop by one or two of these clubs for a visit, or see their description in our Member Club Listing to see if this club is one that appeals to your own interests.

Club policy is to allow membership for ninety (90) days to persons not reporting a club in foundership. This period allows persons who join to learn how to start clubs to ask questions and receive assistance in setting up their clubs. After the grace period, persons who have not reported a club foundership are administratively removed from CFC membership. It's part of our contract with you that all members are founders. If you have not reported a club because you wish the club name to remain confidential or you just forgot, please write: Angelpie_Mouse@yahoo.com.

Considering the volitility of the Internet (and the assistance of hackers making it that way), for a club to survive to its first anniversary is a milestone deserving recognition, for a club to make it to two years is...well! So, this newsletter we recognize all clubs which have survived to celebrate the surpassing of their founding date in the month of January because they did. Hello! The most exciting news I have right now is that I am anixously waiting for the arrival of my new nephew!!! My "baby" sister is due like any day now. This will be her first.

About me I am a SAHM of two girls, Taylor who is 5 and in kindergarten and Bailey-Sue who is 3. I also sell Avon. My anny is August 16 and my bday is June 10.

Using Cheetah Chat in eGroups

yahoo shelties held their first chat tonight using our eGroup chat room and in there I learned a trick. It is possible to use Cheeta chat in eGroups.first you open CC, then you open your CC buddy list, you find a friend who is in the egroup chat room, you click on their name and then 'goto' at the bottom of CC's buddy list and it will bring your buddy and the egroup chat room into cc and away you go. this is also handy for clubs trying the new room because it's a fast way of checking your yahoo room as well. All you do is change your CC room to your club and when no one is there you just bring your buddy back :-)

Canoe Club to Gain Recognition

Pictou County Paddlers has made the transition to community life. We have held several "on the water" sessions and will be applying for society status with our Provincial government next week. Our outdoor sessions have attracted 30-40 paddlers each time, and we have expressions of interest from about 80 more. Not bad for a town of fewer than 10,000!

RPG Founders Promotes A New Co-Founder

Promoting a co-founder not all that amazing? How about if he is less than a week old?

Damsel_in_DDK proudly announces that her co-founder in RPG Founders, Loviator recently gave birth to a baby boy. Born on February 1, Kyle Robert weighed in at 8lbs 2.5oz and was 20 inches long. We understand that he is not presently busy learning the Yahoo! Groups interface, but who can blame him.

The Value of Praise

When members are enthusiastic about participating, when they e-mail to say what a great job we founders are doing, it really makes you want to put more of yourself into club activities, to earn their praise. Somehow, it makes the occassional hell we go through worth it.

FreedomDeep is pleased to share this idea with us concerning her club, Got Stamps. "It's just really nice to really put a lot of work in and have people appreciate and respect what you have done for them.... It's so refreshing!"

Notes on Ground Hog Day

This just in from Ruhdwulf... Ground Hog Day may have its roots in the ancient Druidic celebration of Imbolc; the symbolism of the sword, Green Destiny, in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"; the Druidic Tree Alphabet and Tree Calendar; and sacred trees in Iran. Recent discussion threads in the Joseph Campbell Mythology Group have highlighted the relationship between these significant cultural symbols.

Just to poke a little fun at the seriousness of the discussion, however, it should be noted that that ground hogs are only indigenous to the permafrost regions of North America, and the holiday was wholely an invention of a picnicking wine tasters club and a mildly ambitious small town newspaper man, a member of that club. Although the holiday was originally much later in the year, according to historical accounts, it was resettled on February 2nd which happens to be exactly in the middle between the official first day of Winter, December 21 and the first day of Spring, March 21st. If there weren't usually six more weeks of Winter, we would be in serious trouble.
