March happened......but clearly my journal entries didn't!
I have no excuse, other than there just never seemed enough time to be found to sit down at the computer and actually type out something. There was the usual work load - now compounded by some very stressful changes at work - and, of course, the families needs and just finding time for myself to unwind.
At work we have now been told (no consultation *at all* mind you) that our building, *my* workplace, is to be "shared" with about 300 or so Year 11 and 12 High School students! This month saw at least three lectures go off on stress-leave as a direct result of this decision.
I can see the potential benefits and all, having those students in close proximity to our campus just might induce some more of them to consider a TAFE course instead of going off to University direct (and away from here in Perth), or, worse, doing nothing after leaving school. So, its not that I don't understand or appreciate what is being proposed. Its more the feeling of neglect and, dare I say it, contempt shown by managment of this campus towards its valuable staff and VTEC students (who, after all, have paid for courses here - is it fair to cause potential disruption to those students, all for the sake of money leasing the facilities to the Education Department.)
Anyway, there have been numerous meetings (again, somewhat time consuming), so maybe it will be sorted out.
This month also saw the installation of my Christmas present - the Ricoh CD Writer. I have spent quite a bit of time "playing" with this - several bootleg CD's have been created (all rare and hard to obtain tracks from Mike Oldfield). I think it will also be useful in creating CD's with notes for our cadets.
So, that was March - busy, as usual!
