A course for engineers, physicists, and applied mathematicians which emphasizes methods of solution and applications. Topics covered include Fourier series, the heat equation, the wave equation, Laplace's and Poisson's equation, some Sturm-Liouville theory, Green's function, transform methods, separation of variables, and numerical methods. This two-semester sequence is offered only in fall/spring semesters. Prerequisite: MAT 259 or permission.
