Students spend the first five weeks of the course working in teams formulating, analyzing, criticizing, and presenting mathematical models taken from the biological, managerial, and physical sciences. During the middle weeks, students work in groups developing mathematical models for solving specific problems. The last few weeks are spent in a discussion of the theoretical aspects of mathematical modeling. In lieu of a final exam, students are expected to participate in the International Contest in Modeling which takes place every year in February. Prerequiste: Senior standing in mathematics or permission. The course is offered in the spring semester.
