A seminar in problem solving in selected areas of mathematics. Material will be taken from various problems books, competitions, and mathematical periodicals. Recommended for third- and fourth-year students wanting to participate in the annual Putnam competition. Prerequisite: Successful completition of MAT 261 or MAT 262 or permission. Offered fall semesters only. May be repeated for credit. Credits 1.
